We first began considering adoption from China after we saw a documentary on the Chinese policy of only one child. We had our first biological child in 1985, and as our family grew in size, we continued to think about it. Four children later, with our oldest in college and our youngest in sixth grade, we felt God leading us to adopt a child, and attended an adoption seminar in April of 2005. We prayed about it, and had our children do the same. Finally, in May of 2005, our whole family, including Hannah, Jonas, Mallory, and Kaylin, made the prayerful decision that we should adopt from China. We filled out our paperwork that same month, then began a six-month chase to get it off to China, which we did in December, 2005. Our Date To China (DTC) is 12/23/2005, and our all-important Log In Date (LID) is 01/13/2006.

In the 3+ years that have elapsed since we started our adventure, we've graduated our son Jonas from college (and he's getting married July 12!), our oldest daughter graduated from high school, our middle daughter is going to be a high school senior, and our youngest is going into the ninth grade. What an adventure life holds! We know God has his special timing working just for us and our new family ahead.

(Added 6/12/2009) Link to a book we've produced for Emma as a celebration for the 1st Anniversary of Gotcha Day. It chronicles what happened in our family and with her while we were waiting to find each other.
