Life and routines · March 07, 2008

I have decided that I will do monthly updates around the end of each month.  I say this so those interested don't have to keep checking the website.  We are settling into a routine and I am back at work now.  Jenna has started daycare-part-time for a couple of weeks then full-time.

Last week Jenna got Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease and it was not pretty.  Her mouth and throat were covered in ulcers.  I felt so bad for her because there is nothing to do for the pain other than Motrin.  Poor thing, being in only the orphanage for 8 months did not help to build her immune system.  But it should be made of steel before too long!

She is really trying to crawl but she winds up scooting backwards still.  However, now her butt pops up in the air, so we're making progress.  We got one of those bouncy chairs that you hang on the door frame and she LOVES it!  She'll stay in it with me in the kitchen and have her own little party-laughing, chattering.  It's so cute!

Cade wrapped up his basketball season and has now started soccer.  His birthday was Tuesday-it's so hard to believe he is 8!  Where has the time gone?

Would it be crazy to say that I'm thinking of child #3?  I was thinking about it before we even got our referral...since it took so long!  I wanted a big family and for some reason Jeff just wouldn't agree to 4, but he did, at one time, say okay to 3.  I often remind him of that! ha!  But now that we have Jenna at home,  it's a constant thought and it won't go away.  I have prayed that God will give me a CLEAR and UNMISTAKABLE sign if we are to have 3 children....so we'll see.  Jeff is content right now, but I do have to say we were looking into the foster-adopt program just before we got our referral and he was fine with that.  Anyway, thought if I journaled about it maybe I would feel crazy for wanting 3, so far it ain't happening!

I'm only including one picture for today.  It's a very special picture for me and I'm so thankful we found it.  One of the hard things for adoptive parents whose babies/children are a little older is the lack of pictures, etc documenting the time before they came to be with their forever families.  I found a picture of Jenna on the internet (in the Yahoo group for her orphanage) from when she was maybe 3 months old.  Families often take pictures of all the children that they can if they are lucky enough to visit the orphanages  then post them in, for example, a yahoo group for that specific orphanage.  I'm so grateful to this family!  Click on the picture and it will enlarge.

See you all next month!
