Please take a moment and say a prayer for all of our troops serving in Afghanistan. We have had some contact with Johnny and things are really bad over there. It is a very hostile environment. Much more so than the soldiers were led to believe. Please pray for Johnny and his family.
Johnny arrived in Afghanistan this week. Please lift up a prayer for safety. He was able to purchase a cell phone and he has called several times. It is extremely hot(he compared it to running a hair dryer on hot high heat for 5 minutes in your face to get an idea of the temp). We are very grateful that he can call home but we are not sure how long he will be able to. It is expensive and the minutes go quickly. We are going to send him a package soon. Ashton's class all wrote him letters this week. They are just precious. We can't wait to send them to him. Our prayer is that he will be safe and that this time will go quickly for him. We can't wait for him to be home with us.
Johnny will be boarding a plane for Afghanistan at 3:30 in the morning. It is sooner than we had thought, but plans changed. Please pray for him-for his wife and son, and for my parents. This is such a hard time for everyone. Please pray that the time will pass quickly for Johnny and that God will bring him home safely. I am going to be starting a program to send letters and care packages to our soldiers, so if you are interested just drop me an email. I think it is so important for our soldiers to know that we support them and are praying for them. Some have no families to encourage them. A simple letter means the world to them. Johnny will be in touch with his wife hopefully within the next week. For now he has no cell phone so I know it is going to be so hard to wait to hear from him. Thank you for your prayers. I am looking forward to the day that I can share his homecoming with everyone!
