Update on Emily · November 10, 2006
Update on our precious little girl 2006-11-15 06:40:12.0

On November 2,2006 we were suprised with an update on Emily.  This detailed report provided information regarding a number of things concerning Emily's health, location and development.  We were very thankful to receive such a report.  One of the most significant pieces of information included in the report was that On September 11, 2006 Emily was admitted to the hospital for an orthopedic operation to correct her bilateral club feet.  She recovered well from surgery and was discharged on September 25, 2006.  Our hearts ached that we were not there to comfort our little girl as she endured such an invasive surgery however, we were thankful that the Lord had His healing arms around her and she recovered quickly.

The second piece of valuable information was that Emily is currently living with a foster family.  Again, thankfulness filled our hearts that our daughter is being cared for by a loving family and that she is enjoying the benefits of a home environment as opposed to an orphanage.  The report indicated that she is strongly attached to her foster "mummy and daddy and brother" which brought great comfort to my heart.  We are aware that we will probably address issues of grief and loss when we receive her due to this strong attachment coupled with all of the other various issues which are associated with adopting a toddler but we have been encouraged that attaching to someone is positive milestone in the development of a child.  We have confidence that she is being loved and cared for knowing that brings peace to my heart as my longing to embrace her grows with each passing day.

Additionally, we were told many details about her daily life with the foster family and her personality.  She is described as active, outgoing, sociable, curious and loves laughing.  She enjoys listening to music and playing.  She can say Mummy and Daddy and loves to cuddle.  It was said that when her tummy is full after eating she will pat her belly indicating that she is full which I thought was adorable.

Through this report the Lord granted us a great sense of peace in knowing that He is taking care of our little girl.  As we have been given a small window of which to imagine what her daily life is like we pray for her continually as well as those who care for her.   Through the details of this report it was further confirmed in our hearts at how perfectly she fits in our family.
