We returned today from a trip to Charlotte where we spent the Thanksgiving holiday with my sister Tina, her husband Scott and my mom. Tina is always a great host and had tons of fun things planned for us. We spent one day at the Biltmore, rented lots of movies, made a gingerbread house, visited with Santa, went on a horse drawn carriage ride and visited the Body World exhibit. The kids talked about our visit all the way home!
This year Thanksgiving was more special than ever before. We have so much to be thankful for. All too often in life we take for granted the little things but this year we took the time to enjoy them...never before have the fall leaves been so beautiful, never before has the crisp, cool air smelled so good and never before has the time with family been so sweet. God is so good and He has truly blessed us this year. I hope you and your family enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday as much as we did.
As we were visiting Santa my sister pulled an angel from the Salvation Army Angel tree. It was the first one she had looked at and much to our surprise it belonged to a one year old boy with a name that leads us to believe he might be Hispanic. I can't help but think that God led her to that angel. Giving this child toys and clothes fails to compare to the gift that we received from Salvador and his family but at least I feel like I was able to do something tangible to honor little Salvador.
Brea's donor's family weighed heavy on my heart and mind during the Thanksgiving holiday. I can't possibly imagine the pain Salvador's mother must be experiencing. Please, please keep her in your prayers during the holidays this year. I'm sure they are going to be especially hard for her since his birthday was December 23rd.
Enjoy the photos from our trip and please, take the time to enjoy God's handiwork as you pass by the trees dressed in Orange, Red and Gold. |
