March Milestones · April 4, 2008

So many wonderful and exciting things happened with our family this month.  Jenna is now 11 months and has been in our family for 3 months-hard to believe it's been 3 months but then again it also seems as though she has been with us forever!  She now weighs 19-1/2 lbs.  She chatters constantly and talks her own language-it's absolutely adorable.  She likes to clap patty cake and claps to music then she'll look at you so you can give her the appropriate praise and she'll start again-too funny!  Everything goes in her mouth so she can try to chew on it, lick it, taste it, or blow raspberries on it.  She likes to eat paper-I tell her all the time she's part goat because she will throw a FIT if you take away any paper product from her!  I see a bottom tooth coming through-should be any day now-can see some white on the top of the gum and she doesn't like you to rub her gums right now.

She has been adapting to the American germs and there must be a lot of them!  She had another ear infection, cold/allergies and teething at the same time.  I am now back at work full-time and she is in daycare full time.  She's adjusting.  She cries and reaches up for me  every time I leave her-I hate it, but she does fine a few minutes after I leave.  She doesn't go to strangers anymore.  I would say she is attaching just fine!  She cries when I walk through the living room when I'm doing stuff (okay that does wear me out sometimes-just being honest here).

Cade turned 8 this month and I REALLY can't believe that!  He had a boys only putt putt party and I made him a football cake (what he wanted).  He finished his basketball season and has now started soccer-games every Saturday.  He had his Spring musical at school and he was an astronaut and he'll be one for Halloween this year as well (might as well get my money out of that costume).  He's in a play the kid's choir is doing atour Church in May.  He is VERY excited about it.  It's about David and Goliath and he gets to be David-very big deal for him!

But our biggest and most exciting news is that Cade accepted Christ into his heart (actually several months ago) but made his public profession of faith on Easter Sunday-what an Easter blessing!  We started a new series that day:  3:16 The Numbers of Hope and how absolutely fitting.  We are so excited for Cade that he made this decision!

Jenna has started physical therapy for her neck muscles and we took her to Dallas Children's for them to look at her head-she has a couple of issues going on and has been fitted/measured for a cranial helmet.  We're still waiting on insurance and then the helmet will be made to her measurements.  She will have to wear this for 23 hours a day for 4-6 months.  Not sure how long physical therapy will last but I think they are going to help with her gross motor skills as well.   She's still not crawling but she does push herself backwards and sometimes she can get her legs underneath her but then they slide back out.

We have had another Physical Therapy appointment and Jenna absolutely hates them.  She screams, cries and I had to stay in there that time.  I refuse to stay in there anymore.  She reaches for me crying and I can't just leave her hanging like that-it's like I'm standing there but I'm not going to help her-ugh!  NO MORE!

Update:  I had most of this written waiting on me finding my camera cord.  I think Jenna may be experiencing some "anxious attachment"- fairly common in adopted children.  She just really doesn't even seem to want to go to people that she's even been comfortable with before.  She's gotten really clingy.  I know starting daycare has played into this-just when she gets used to being with us all of the time we stick her in daycare with someone else-yeah, there's a wee bit of guilt there but I'm working on it.

I think that's it for now.  Now I have to find which 20 pictures I want to post.  That's my maximum.  Hmmmm.....may have to think about a picture update mid month! haha!  Think I'm taking way too many pictures!

(PS-ignore the dates on the pics, forgot to change it when the batteries died.)
