To all our family, friends, co-workers, and all the new friends we made in the Yahoo groups and RQ site - as you can see we have arrived safely in Nanjing.
Didn't think the numbness in our rear ends would ever go away!!
For all you parents waiting to make travel arrangements - try, try, try to either get bulkhead seats, or, at the very least, two aisle seats next to each other. It will make life a lot easier when traveling with baby, as well as, without baby.
After settling in at the Nanjing Grand Hotel on Saturday afternoon, we ventured into a most overwhelming experience of sights, sounds, and scents. We took a few taxi rides, and stopped in at the Nanjing Walmart for a few essentials. There must have been easily 1500 people in that store at the same time.
There was quite an array of products available for purchase ranging from the normal items you would see at home to tanks filled with all different types of live fish, turtles, frogs, crabs, etc. not as pets mind you, but for food consumption. There were all different types of cooked foods some recognizable, and many, many foods not recognizable.
After our little shopping experience, we came back to the hotel, and had a buffet dinner. Then is was back to the room to get a good night's sleep.
I don't know how John does it, but he can sleep on a rock. Me, on the other hand, felt like "The Princess and the Pea!"
Bad Backs beware, these mattresses are Hard!! I took all the extra bedding to use as an extra cushion which helped only minorly.
Today we will venture out, walk around, take some pictures, and, maybe do a little shopping.
Just waiting for Monday, when we meet our baby girl for the first time!
