Today was a free day, so our friends from Shenzhen Alan, Cindy, and their daughter came to visit us.  We haven't seen Alan for over three years and had never met his wife and daughter.  We were so excited about their visit.

Alan and Cindy wanted to take us to a seafood restaurant that is very popular with the locals.  It is located on the roof of the building that houses the seafood market.  You pick out and buy what you want at the market.  Then you bring it to the dining room of the restaurant and tell your waitress how you want it cooked.

Bobby and Alan picked out the seafood while Cindy showed me how to prepare the table.  In this part of China, a pot of either hot water or weak tea is brought to the table with an empty glass bowl.  You pour the hot liquid over your dishes and empty them into the glass bowl before the food is brought to the table.  I think it has something to do with cleanliness.

Bobby and Alan picked out enough seafood for an army (especially since I don't eat seafood).   We had lobster, prawns, spicy seafood soup, two kinds of shellfish, crabs, and flounder.  We also had fruit filled bread, a green vegetable, eggplant, steamed pumpkin with peanuts, and fried pork ribs.  I have never seen so much food in all my life.  Bobby said the seafood was fantastic.  I know it couldn't have been any fresher.

This arrived in our room this morning. Every adoptive family that stays at the White Swan gets a Going Home Barbie. It's a white woman carrying an Asian baby. Layne destroyed hers, so I think we will leave this one in the box.
After our huge lunch, we hung out in the Swan Room (a playroom a the hotel that is for adoptive parents).  Some other adoptive parents were coming in and out with their children.  Alan can tell what province children are from by their facial features, so we all loved having him guess where the children are from.  There is a little boy in our group from Inner Mongolia.  Alan told his mom that when he grows up, he will be a great drinker.  He meant it as a compliment, and it was really funny.

Poor Layne was exhausted in the evening and fell asleep in a chair.  When I woke her up to get ready for bed, she started crying.  Sutton became so worried.  He had been talking and babbling, but he just stopped and stared at her.  He loves his big sister!
