We arrive in Guangzhou late last night and just being here has lifted my spirits.   I will post more about our first morning here in Guangzhou but wanted to cover the happenings of our last day in Xi’an.  Yesterday was a much better day.  We have discovered that although Joshua climbs the walls in our hotel, it is a much better environment for him.  I think that being in the chaos of a lot of people and being overstimulated when we are out and about causes him to act out.  I am sure that he had never experienced life outside of his orphanage so being among this sea of faces and all the sights and sounds has to be overwhelming for him….it is overwhelming for his mama.  Anyway, our day yesterday was spent hanging out in the hotel and then going to the airport.  Our guide checked us in and took us right to security.  Our flight was packed and we were the only Caucasians on the flight.  The people on our flight were pushy, rude and loud.  In fact as we were standing in line for security an older man and his wife just pushed right passed us and about 15 other people to the front of the line.  I was shocked at the boldness….can I say that these people really need a lesson in some manners.  Just sitting in the gate area with all these people, I was reminded of how blessed I am to live in the United States.  Of course, as when we were here before with Emily there are MANY things that remind me of how proud I should always be that God allowed me to be born in America.

The Little Prince did well on the flight.  Of course he was all over the place and hated to buckle his seat belt but overall he was happy, showed no signs of fretfulness with flying.  In fact he seemed to enjoy looking out of the window as we took off and landed.  As I said, I was so happy to touch down in Guangzhou.  Our guide, Ike met us at baggage claim and we made our way through the city to Shamian Island.    The familiarity of the Island was so comforting.  Joshua was so animated and happy on our car ride to the hotel and was very responsive to our guide when Ike spoke to him in Chinese.  We checked in, unpacked at The Victory Hotel and after a long day all three of us went right to sleep.
Giving thanks this morning that we are at the halfway point and that the toughest parts of our journey are behind us.  Basking in the goodness of the Lord right now as I think of how He has not only walked with us every step of our way but His presence has been with our babies back at home as well.  We have skyped with them each day and they all look good.  Grace has had tough time with us being away but this morning when we skyped she seem to be much happier. Cody is doing fantastic with his day to day management of his insulin pump etc...  What a huge answer to prayer that has been.   We are thrilled with the gift of Aunt Cynthia this past week and Miss Sara the upcoming week.  We have had no worries that Cody, Grace and Emily are so loved and cared for and couldn’t be more thankful that these women have sacrificed their time to hold down the home front while we are bringing Joshua home.  Thanks to everyone who is praying for us and thinking of us.  Your thoughts and prayers are gifts to us as well and we feel them so strongly.    We have a few days of no events and we are looking forward to enjoying the island and getting to know some of the other families we have seen since arriving and as you may have guessed Starbucks will be my very first stop this morning.
Love and Hugs to you all!
