The sun has set not long ago and all is well here in Guangzhou.  Our little prince is fast asleep in his crib after a very busy day.  It has been a wonderful day.  The weather here today was so incredibly nice.  There was a crispness in the air but not too cool.  It was clear and beautiful and we enjoyed walking around the island and taking in all of the activity.  We are not sure what was going on but the island was filled with models and huge camera crews.  In fact we were certain that some of them had to be celebrities.   Our day began with  the medical exam which was not fun for either me or Joshua.  He did not like being poked and prodded by these people in white coats and I will have to say that I was boiling mad when the ENT dr. was rather rough with him during the exam.  The dr. needed to look at Joshua’s palate and Joshua was determined not to open his mouth.  It was obvious that this dr. had no training in how to get kiddos to open their mouths without force.  Joshua screamed the whole time we were at the appt. but recovered very nicely  and we hit Starbucks as a reward.  I had a not so good latte and Joshua a had a piece of chocolate pound cake.  I was a bit disappointed in my drink but hope that we can return when Starbucks isn't filled with camera crews and there are more than trainees working.

Outside of a disappointing latte we  had the best day today.  Joshua was happy and giggly.  He loves making us laugh and is such a little comedian.  He is full of personality and uniqueness.   He doesn’t like to walk but would rather me hold him which I really don’t mind but there are times when my arms and back hurt and April, thank you for your empathy, there are times in these pictures when my arm is burning. He is quite the work out.  Well, today after all our walking I decided that my arm was no longer going to serve as his chariot and it was time for the little prince to walk.  I will post some pictures of the results.  He did finally get up walk until I couldn’t stand watching him touch every nasty thing he could find and I picked him up again.

We finished the day by playing at the playroom here at our hotel.  Joshua, loved a little plastic slide and a little spinning chair. The faster I spun him the happier he was. I laughed and said that Cody now has a buddy for the tea cup ride at Disney.  We ate dinner at Lucy’s which was a first for us.  We didn’t eat there during our last trip but given that our breakfast here at The Victory leaves a lot to be desired we were hungry for more than the snack type foods we have been eating for dinner.  I stuck with a grilled cheese and French fries but Mike was very adventurous and got a steak and fries and I am praying that he doesn’t get sick.  My French fries were oh so tasty and Joshua ate them but didn’t seem to be as overwhelmed with them as our Emily was.  I vividly remember her reaction to her first McDonalds fry at the LA airport.  It was precious.  After dinner we walked along the river and played with Joshua on a playground.  He could have played on the slide all night.  As you can see, our day was filled with lots of fun time loving on our little boy.  He is just delightful and we are so enthralled with him.  Now that I am more relaxed I am able to see through so much of his busyness to the incredibly creative little boy who I have the honor of calling son.    I continue to stand in amazement at how well he is doing.  As we observed other families who are adopting today I realized how different Joshua acts.  It really is like he has always been with us.  He is playful and expressive with us and very social with others but wants to stay secure in my arms.  When approached by Chinese people who seem to feel the need to see if he will go to them he flatly refuses….clinging to me, which does wonders for this mama’s heart.  “Taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him” Psalm 34: 8.  I have done more that taste this past week and have seen the goodness of the Lord and give him praise and adoration for allowing us to experience His goodness.  Our family is blessed beyond words by our little prince.  Good night and wishes to all of you for a good day tomorrow!
