Wal-Mart, Pumpkins, Sombreros and Birthdays!

Today was our first full day at home and it was a day of many firsts for Brea!

We took a trip to Wal-Mart after the kids got home from school and Brea was amazed!  She loved looking at the lights and the kids loved pushing her in the shopping cart.  They took turns carefully explaining things to Brea that caught her eye...including the crates of pumpkins!  If someone had told me 10 years ago that I would spend almost an hour picking out pumpkins in Wal-Mart with a one year old, a seven year old and a ten year old (as of today) I would have told them they were nuts.  Needless to say, that is exactly what I did this afternoon.  We also picked up the candles, plates and napkins for Brooke's birthday party tomorrow.

Brooke turned 10 today and in keeping with our family tradition we treated her to dinner at the restaurant of her choice.  Mi Pueblo's in Prairieville will never be the same!  Our double digit princess feasted on her favorite Mexican foods and then the wait staff sang to her and treated her to dessert while placing a huge sombrero on her head.  Between the birthday chaos and the many folks who stopped by our table to wish Brooke a happy birthday, admire our little peanut and congratulate the glowing big sister and brother I think we left quite a mark on the patrons and staff alike.  Brea was determined to get her hands on the big hat but we were afraid we would never find her under it if she got it off Brooke's head.  Tomorrow Brea will attend her first birthday party for her big sister.  We will celebrate at Artistico Express with a pottery/ceramics party from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

I'm happy to report that Brea has warmed up to the dogs and her big brother. Much to Baker's dismay, he granted her permission to touch his hair and once she discovered that it wasn't so scary she warmed up to him in a big way.  He thinks it is just great that she has a sense of humor and likes to make people laugh (just like him) and also that she sucks her bottom lip when she gets sleepy like he did when he was a baby.

I finally got around to adding some pictures of Brea's finished nursery today.  Click on the "All about Brea" folder and then the nursery page to see the finished product.  We all participated in putting it together for her.  Danny and Baker did the majority of the painting.  Brooke and I made the crib bedding.  The kids picked their favorite toys, books and videos from their baby memory boxes to put on her bookshelves and I painted the mural above the closet for her.  We hope she will feel safe and happy in her room and will feel the love that went into preparing it for her.

It has been a busy but wonderful first full day at home.  As I sign off tonight I am exhausted but so thrilled to be honored with the title of "Mom of three".  Enjoy the pictures from today.  Goodnight from Louisiana!
