The Artist and the Karate Kid! · April 05, 2008

A few weeks ago Brooke's art teacher sent us an invitation to attend a special event at an art gallery in downtown Raleigh.  Brooke's artwork had been chosen as one of three pieces from her school (800 children) to be displayed in a local gallery.  Each school in our area was invited to submit three pieces of work and it was a great honor to be chosen.  We attended the reception and awards ceremony and afterwards we celebrated at a local pizza parlor downtown.  It was a great night and we are very proud of our little artist!

Today Baker tested for his senior white belt in Tae Kwan Do.  He was taking Choi Kwan Do in Louisiana but it was not available here so he had to start all over at the bottom.  The testing was LONG...over two hours.  There were several times during the test that Brea decided that it was her turn and loudly stated "My turn Momma".  Baker has taught her a couple of kicks and how to count in Korean so she showed off her skills to the other parents watching the test.  Baker passed his test and got his new belt after breaking a board and sparring for quite some time.

Here are a few photos of our artist and the karate kid...enjoy!
