A wonderful way to start a new year! · January 11, 2011
Yesterday Brea had her quarterly transplant check up.  It amazes me to see how far she has come over the last 3 years.  She walked into the exam room, climbed up on the table and stuck her little arm out for them to take her blood pressure (96/74).  She then had a weight check and I was thrilled to see that she had gained a pound (33 punds and 8 ounces)!  She then had an EKG and echocardiogram and both were great!  The last part of her quarterly exam is a trip to the lab.  Usually she starts crying on the walk over but yesterday was different.  She bravely walked into the lab and climbed up into the chair to have her blood taken.  Her lip was quivering but she didn't cry.  She asked the lab tech if she could have a pink bandage and how many tubes of blood she had to give. The nice lady said she would give her a pink bandage and she told her she would need SEVEN tubes of blood...four large and three small ones.  As I held her in my lap I watched her bottom lip quiver as the technician tied the band around her little arm and made her first attempt to find the vien.  Her viens roll and it took the lady a couple of minutes (it seemed like forever) to get the blood flowing but once she did things moved quickly.  We counted the tubes as they were filled and I could feel the tension in her little body leave as the needle was pulled from her arm.  She proudly said "Mom, I didn't cry".  What a big girl!

I want to thank each and every one of you who continue to pray for our precious little one.  Just recently I started reading Brea some of the comments left in our guest book and I can't begin to tell you how good it feels to know that she is covered in your prayers three years after her transplant.  Thank you dear friends for being part of Brea's story!  May God bless you as you have blessed us.
