Horses and a day at the park · April 14, 2008

Last week Brooke was finally able to use her horse back riding gift certificate that she got for Christmas.  While Brooke and Baker went on a trail ride Brea and I spent some time on the play ground and checking out some catepillars that were sunning on a nearby picnic table.  Brea liked the horses and patted them on their noses but she wanted no part of riding them.  I think the catepillars were much more her size.

Last weekend we attended a birthday party at the local park and I couldn't resist taking some photos of the kids.  It was in the 70s and overcast so it was a perfect day to play.  The kids climbed, swang, ran and played hide and seek and Brea got a taste of her first cupcake!  Needless to say they all slept well Saturday night.

A couple of weeks ago we got a call from the Texas Organ Procurement Organization.  They called to invite us to a quilt ceremony in May.  The ceremony gives families who have lost a loved one in the past year a chance to make a quilt square in memory of their loved one and pin it on a organ donor quilt that is later pieced together and hung in their office.  At the same time that the family is placing their quilt square each person who received an organ from their loved one lights a candle to represent the gift of life given to them.  I was shocked to learn that we are the only family that has written to Salvador's mother to say thank you.  The organization can only invite the families that have made contact so we are the only family that has been invited to represent the recipients of Salvador's organs.  The organization also offered to provide a place to meet Salvador's mother and a translator before the ceremony.  Danny is researching airfare from Raleigh to San Antonio and we hope to be able to give them an answer in the next day or so.   Please pray that we can find reasonable airfare and that we are able to find the words to express our sincere gratitude for her choice to donate the gift of life to our precious Brea.

Enjoy the photos!
