Summer Vacation 2011 · May 29, 2011
School ended for our kids on May 20th so we packed up and headed to Panama City Beach, FL for a week.  We stayed at Marriott Bay Point Vacation Villas through our timeshare exchange program.  It is a great resort with lots of family friendly activities.  There were several days that we didn't even leave the resort.  We put together puzzles, the kids tie dyed t-shirts, made wind socks, painted shells and tote bags and finger painted.  Danny and Baker found two retired gentlemen who challenged them to a game of Wii bowling and bean bag toss everyday that we were there.  Brea learned to swim really well  and Bailey ventured off the pool steps into the shallow end for the first time.  The activity staff even had the kids making candy apples, root beer floats and ice cream sundaes out by the pool daily.  We had planned on going out to dinner one night for seafood but that never happened.  By the time we made it in from the beach or pool and got cleaned up everyone was happy just relaxing and making something simple for dinner.

We did make it over to St. Andrews Bay one day to play on the beach and jettys.  The kids had a blast checking out all the crabs that folks were catching but it just reminded me why I don't go out into the water...there are creatures out there!  We even made it to the Sea Dragon one day and took a pirate cruise.  Brea, Bailey and Baker had a blast.  The pirates painted their faces, had sword fights with them, helped them find burried treasure out in the gulf and played lots and lots of games with them.  We even got to see dolphins up close as they swam by our boat.  The cruise ended with a good old fashioned conga line, the chicken dance and lots of Arrrrggggs and high fives as the kids left the ship.  It was a big hit!  The day before we left we were able to visit Wonderworks.  It is an inside amusement park.  The kids got to lay on a bed of nails, pull themselves up on pulley chairs, land the space shuttle, land a fighter jet on an aircraft carrier and climb the ropes course.  It was a nice change from the heat and sun.  Most importantly, we got to spend lots of time together as a family AND we got to visit my old room mate and best friend, Pam and her family.  We had a great time together but as always, it was hard to say goodbye. :0(

Here are a few photos from our trip....enjoy!  I hope you and your family will find the time this summer to make some memories of your own.
