A special prayer request · December 05, 2008

Since February 16, 2007 (the day Brea was hospitalized) my inbox has been flooded with literally hundreds of emails from folks all across the world.  They were emails of all kinds...scripture, words of encouragement, folks letting us know they were praying for Brea and our family and even a few funny emails just to put a smile on our face.  Over the last year the emails have decreased a great deal but from time to time we get one from someone who followed our story and they just want to check in to say hello or share a story or prayer request with us.  Today we got one of those and as I read it I was flooded with memories of what it was like to wait and wonder if my beautiful little girl would live or die.  I am going to copy and paste below the email that I received today.  PLEASE join me in praying for this family.  I have NO DOUBT that Brea is here with us today because so many folks were storming the gates of Heaven for her asking God for a miracle.  This family needs a miracle to.  Here is the email...

My name is Jenny. I am mom to two daughters from . My best friend is mom to a daughter and a Baoji boy. It is through her that I learned of Brea and your family. Everyday I read about Brea ’s progress and setbacks. I put Brea on every prayer list I could think of. I always remarked on how strong I thought your family was and how I admired your courage. I know that hundreds of people prayed for Brea and I believe through their faith, kindness and love that our prayers were heard. I know many people read Brea ’s site and was wondering if you could post a prayer request for my sister. I am desperate. My sister, Kristy, was in her last trimester of her miracle pregnancy. She had not had an easy pregnancy. She was placed on bedrest the end of August about 10 weeks before her due date. On October 3rd she was taken to the hospital for what everyone thought was a blood clot in her lungs. We did not realize how close we came to losing her. She was diagnosed with peripartum cardiomyopathy. We were told that they had to try to stabilize her without her going into premature labor because if she delivered she would most likely die. Her cardio infraction at that time was 10. The next few days were good. Her baby was tolerating the medications and her infraction was improving. Five days later, on October 8th, Hunter Cole was born. She continued to improve and was released from the hospital a week later. Two days later she was back. Our local hospital could do no more for her so she was transferred to the Cleveland Clinic. She did very well there and on Oct. 28th was sent home. We thought she was improving but on Nov. 19th she was admitted back into the hospital for what we thought was the flu. It was not. She was taken via helicopter to Cleveland the next day. She was officially placed on the heart transplant list on Wednesday the 26th – the day before Thanksgiving with a 1B status. She has since been upgraded to a 1A status. The doctors said they are praying she gets a heart soon so they do not have to implant an assist device. Please pray for my sister to find a heart. I set up a caring bridge site if you or anyone else would like to follow her story. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kristykress  Thank you so much for your help.
