Update (5/8) Everyday life, Sleepless Nights and Steroids

Things at the Wusterbarth house are starting to return to normal...Brooke and Baker are arguing like all brothers and sisters do, dinner at 6:00, bedtime for the kiddos at 8:00, homework, laundry and the dog chasing the cat in the backyard.  After being away for 9 weeks I've lost the hang of multi tasking my daily duties while taking care of a little one and it is taking me some time to get back in the swing of things.  There was a time when I could start the laundry, cook dinner, help with homework, entertain the baby and balance the check book all at the same time.  These days I do good to get all of that done in one day.  Managing Brea's medications is still rather new to me but charts and check list help and setting the timer on the microwave for the next round of meds has become a life saver for me.  I go to bed absolutely exhausted but it is a good means we are home.

Brea is still struggling with insomnia due to the steroids.  She went to bed last night at 9:00 pm but was up at 11:00, 1:00 and 3:00.  When she got up at three she decided that it was play time and she stayed up until 5:00 and kept pointing to the back door and saying "out".  She really wanted to go outside and swing and did not understand why I didn't think it was a good idea.  Now you might be thinking that she slept in but she didn't.  She was up again at  6:00 am!  She only took a 30 minute nap today and we just got her to bed for the night (and it is almost 10:00 pm).  Yes, our sweet girl likes to hoot with the owls and soar with the eagles!

I've tried numerous times to sit down and write thank you notes but I find that I am either too tired or one of the three kids needs me for something.  I can't begin to tell you how many times I've started over because I lost track of what I was doing.  I'd like to think that my memory loss is due to lack of sleep and not age but at this point I'm not sure which one it really is.  :0)  Brea was in two different hospitals, 6 different hospital rooms, the Ronald McDonald house, an apartment and now home so we are still trying to get organized and unpacked and I am constantly finding cards and notes that I've stuck here and there with intentions of writing thank you notes when I had a spare tie.  Plesae accept my apologies for not being able to get those notes out in a timely manner.  We really do appreciate all that everyone has done for our family and Brea and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  Now, if I could just find the time to get all those notes written.

On a final note...we received a package of really cute clothes for Brea on Saturday but we have no idea who they are from.  The label somehow got wet while in transit and our address was readable (barely) but the return address was not.  We seem to think that the package is from Texas and that the senders first initial is "S" but because the label was badly damaged we are just not sure.  I have a feeling they are from a fellow "China mom" because there are some items with ladybugs on them. :0)  If the sender happens to see this, please email me.  By the way, they are a perfect fit and we really appreciate them.  Since Brea isn't able to go shopping I haven't bought her many Spring and Summer clothes so these will surely come in handy.

Goodnight from Prairieville.
