Let it snow! · January 20, 2009

The new year is off to a great start.  We've had our share of 24 hour bugs but nothing serious.  Since Brooke and Baker go to year round school they are still out on winter break (since 12/19/08) and will not go back until January 28th.  Winter breaks of this length require some creativity and a huge dose of patience!  It is easy to entertain kids in the summer when the neighborhood pool is open and it is warm enough to play outside but entertaining kids when it is cold and rainy is a different story.  Needless to say, they are ready to go back to school and my is ready for some much needed quite time.

This morning we woke to a beautiful winter wonderland outside our window!  The kids were so excited and all Brea could say when she saw that it had snowed during the night was "Its so pretty".  After breakfast we bundled up and headed out to play in the snow.  Baker was an instant celebrity when the neighborhood little ones realized that he was able to run up and down the street while pulling them on the sled!  Brooke and Brea got their fare share of rides too and Brooke took her turn at being the puller of the sled while Baker rode!  We made snow angels, threw snow balls and tried to build a snowman but the snow was not right for packing.  We all came in with red cheeks and big smiles to thaw out.  Our new neighbors came over with their three kids for a round of hot chocolate.  As the milk was warming on the stove the sounds of six children laughing and playing filled our home.  I couldn't help but smile as I stirred the milk and thought about the blessings that God has bestowed on our family.  May we never take for granted the little things in life that make each day special.

Enjoy the photos of our fun filled day!
