Mommy & Me Tea, End of School, Lost Colony and Dance Recitals · May 24, 2009

We have had a very busy couple of weeks!  Brea's preschool hosted a Mommy and Me Tea at the preschool.  It was really nice complete with music by the children, placecards, cucumber sandwiches and beautiful cakes with freesh flowers on them.

Last weekend we made a quick trip to Charlotte.  Danny had to meet customers at the Nascar race and my mom and sister agreed to keep the children for us.  Before leaving for the race my sister surprised Brea with a birthday cake and presents (she will be 4 on June 5th).  We celebrated her birthday a little early and the kids played in the pool.

The following week Brea had her end of the school year program at preschool.  Her class sang "Jesus Love Me', "Baby Bumblebee" and "The Letter Exercise".   Brea sang her little heart out and mommy and daddy were so proud of her!  It is hard to believe that in the Fall she will be in the 4 year old preschool class.  Where has the time gone???

Months ago Baker tried out for a play at his school.  He was given two roles and has been rehersing every week since then.  Thursday night was the play.  It was called the Lost Colony and was about English settlers who came to America and then disappeared.  Baker did an awesome job!  His character was killed during the play and he fell to the ground and played dead like a pro!   We were very proud of him and the entire cast of the play.

Yesterday BOTH girls had their dance recitals.  Brea's was at 10:00 AM.  On the way there she was very quite and her little lip was quivering.  When we got there and she saw all the people she began to cry.   I really didn't think she would go out on the stage but when it was time and she saw her teacher she was all smiles!  She did a great job and even smiled on stage.  Brooke's recital was at 6:00 PM last night.  She danced like a pro without missing a step!  She has been dancing since she was 3 and it really showed last night!  We are so proud of both of the girls and the work that they put into their recitals.

I've gotten many emails asking how Brea is doing so I thought I would take a moment and let everyone know that she is doing great!  She recovered from pneumonia but her immune system is still lower than usual.  This whole swine flu thing has us scared but we are trying not to panic.  Needless to say, we are washing hands and using hand sanitizer like crazy and Brea is wearing her mask around large crowds.  Please keep her in your prayers that she will stay well and that this whole swine flu thing will blow over.

I hope each and every one of you will have a wonderful Memorial Day with family and friends.  Our kids have to go to school on Monday but we will celebrate when they get home with a trip to the pool and some burgers on the grill.

Enjoy the photos!
