Brooke's Confirmation · March 22, 2009

It has been a very busy weekend.  Friday night we attended the banquet for Brooke's confirmation class.  It was really nice complete with beautiful linens, candles, delicious food and a slide show of all of the confirmands as babies.  As I was sifting through Brooke's baby pictures for the banquet I came across the photos of her baptism.  With her making the decision to be confirmed it felt like things had come full circle.  When she was just a few weeks old we stood before God and the church and promised to raise her in the church.  Today she stood before God and the church and made her own decision.  The service was very nice and Pastor David's sermon was very fitting.  There were 33 confirmands in the class and they were a very impressive sight as they marched in together and took their seats on the first two pews.  Pastor David talked about the course work that these kids had completed and their weekend retreat on the coldest weekend of the year.  As each child was confirmed their parents stood up in a show of support for their child.  There wasn't an empty seat in the church and they even had to open up the overflow area to accomodate everyone.  Needless to say, we are very proud of the decision that Brooke has made for her life.  Afterwards we came back to our house for lunch with family and friends.  Now the day is coming to an end and North Raleigh United Methodist Church has 33 new members.  Enjoy the photos!
